Nearshore software development in Europe means an engineering team in an overlapping time zone, typically Central Europe, instead of hiring onshore or going offshore. UK, DACH and Nordic companies share almost the whole working day; US East Coast mornings overlap CET afternoons. Industry surveys put senior CEE rates at $60–80 an hour, against $110–160 in Western Europe and $140–200+ in the US. Yarify delivers from Prague under EU contracts.

The real cost is the wait
Outsourcing's hidden cost is the question that waits twelve hours, the feature built on a misunderstood requirement, the bug nobody can debug together.
Nearshore software development keeps engineers in your working day. Prague is one hour ahead of London, level with Berlin and Zurich, and you skip months of recruiting and employer taxes.
Time-zone overlap from Prague (CET)
How a Prague 9:00–17:00 day lines up with yours. Daylight saving can shift this by an hour for a few weeks.
| Your location | Time difference | Shared working hours |
|---|---|---|
| UK and Ireland | 1 hour behind Prague | Almost the full day |
| Germany, Austria, Switzerland | Same time zone | Full day |
| Nordics (Sweden, Norway, Denmark) | Same time zone | Full day |
| Finland and the Baltics | 1 hour ahead of Prague | Almost the full day |
| US East Coast | 6 hours behind Prague | Your morning, our afternoon |
| US West Coast | 9 hours behind Prague | Limited; async plus an early call |

Questions buyers ask us
What is the difference between nearshore and offshore software development?
Nearshore is a team in an overlapping time zone, such as Central Europe for UK and DACH companies. Offshore is a distant region with little overlap. Offshore is cheaper per hour; nearshore usually costs less in delays and rework. See nearshore vs offshore.
Can a European nearshore team work with a US company?
Yes. Prague is six hours ahead of the US East Coast, so your morning overlaps our afternoon. We run async-first: written updates, pull requests ready when you start, and a daily call in the shared window. West Coast teams get a more async rhythm.
How are contracts and invoicing handled for clients outside the Czech Republic?
You contract with Yarify s.r.o. under EU law. EU business clients with a VAT ID are generally invoiced under reverse charge; UK, Swiss, Norwegian and US clients generally without Czech VAT. Confirm with your accountant.
Is a nearshore team in the EU GDPR compliant for UK and Swiss companies?
The EU and UK recognise each other's data protection regimes, and Switzerland has a comparable framework, so data flows are generally straightforward. We sign a data processing agreement and keep personal data in the EU. Your DPO confirms specifics.
How much cheaper is nearshore development in Europe?
Industry surveys put senior Central European developers at roughly $60–80 an hour, against $110–160 in Western Europe and $140–200+ in the US. Savings on recruiting and employer costs come on top. We quote fixed prices for projects, monthly for teams.
What happens if the engagement is not working?
Teams and augmentation cancel with two weeks' notice, no long lock-in. Code is in your repository and IP is yours from day one, so you can hand it to anyone. On fixed-scope work, the agreed price does not change if our estimate was wrong.
